We explored different drawing medium to create the design content, from mono-printing, time-lapse animation to comic/zine workshops. Some of these workshop sessions were held outside, aiming to encourage participation and invite grounded responses to the theme centred around ‘sense of place’ and feelings towards their home town. The outputs from these sessions were gathered into a mural design which I created digitally. We then hosted a day where the young people could paint their design on the window in the youth project. The mural was ready for Mazey Day, a popular cultural day in Penzance, unveiling their work to the wider community

I delivered a series of drawing based drop-in workshops for young people at Penzance Newlyn Youth centre to help access their creativity.

“Jess was brilliant to work with. She came up with some really interesting and accessible activities to get the young people drawing and thinking about colours/textures. They also tried out different techniques with her which they loved. Her gentle and encouraging approach coupled with her amazing expertise worked really well for our groups. This all came together into a mural that captured their ideas so beautifully. The kids are so proud of it and we get a lot of positive comments about it from the community. ” Izzy Bianchini, Creative Kernow.
